History of TEC

Welcome to Track Eastern! Founded in 1975 by Howard Mathews and Clem Williams, Track Eastern has been a cornerstone of the athletic community for over four decades.

Under the leadership of Big Dave Simpson, who took the helm as Head Coach in 1985, Track Eastern has flourished into a powerhouse of track and field excellence. Over the years, Track Eastern has nurtured and developed the talents of over 4000 athletes, instilling in them the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

In 2009, Track Eastern New Bern was honored with the prestigious title of the Greatest High School ever, a testament to the dedication and passion of our athletes, coaches, and supporters.
